Why is the tenth month of the year called 'October'?

  1. October is the tenth month of the year according to the Gregorian calendar and is said to be one of the seven Gregorian months having 31 days. October starts off in the western tropical astrology with the sun placed in the sign of Libra and concludes in the sign of Scorpio.

According to astronomy, the sun in reality starts in the constellation of Virgo and concludes in the constellation of Libra. In the Latin language octo means "eight", and October was also said to be the eight month in the Roman calendar till a month less winter phase was distributed among January and February.
